ABOUT THE TRAVELING SKETCHBOOK TRIP:

Come with us as we journey to France and experience the splendor of Provence for a week of art!  Using your “traveling sketchbook”, you will record your surroundings daily… each new hill town or village, landscape, market, café or garden we visit will provide its own colorful palette that will inspire you. Sketching on location in each charming town, drawing and painting from observation, we will record the mood of the place and that “moment in time”.

Sarah Bracco is our teacher and each day she will demonstrate, sharing ideas and techniques to use as you create “visual memories” of the trip.  We will discuss drawing & painting techniques, experiment with color, and page formatting, review perspective drawing, along with many other things.

Working with pencils, watercolor, pen& ink, and a variety of mixed media, you will tell your own story through drawing and paintings. (A list of supplies will be provided for you!) Join Cezanne, Van Gogh and all the other artists that have been lured to the beauty of Provence for a week you will never forget, keeping the color fresh and our brushes wet!

Early Bird Discount of $200 if you  book by 12/1/2018.

Bonnieux is located in the Luberon part of southern France. The town is situated on a steep cliff with many hilly streets and overlooks the valley below. Our excursions include visits to Roussillon with the world famous ochre trail and mines, Lacoste, Menerbes and other small towns in Provence. The architecture of Bonnieux, which was a papal town for about 500 years, testifies to the prestige of its inhabitants over the centuries: ecclesiastical dignitaries, counts, lords... up until the modern times of the 19th century. The village has kept all its authenticity, its steep sloping streets, its fountains and washhouses, its old church and a view that is worth it all.

Lodging: Hotel Clos du Buis

The hotel has a great location in the center of Bonnieux. It is possible to walk to restaurants, shops and galleries. The hotel has a lovely garden, a small pool, plenty of space to paint indoors after our excursions! The breakfast is extraordinary and can be taken in the dining room that has a panoramic view over the beautiful valley below.

As an added benefit, there is a guest kitchen at our disposal, as is a washer and a dryer (that we can use for a small fee).

Please be aware that there are steep hills and stairs in Bonnieux!
