SPAIN - "Painting for Travelers" in Mallorca, Spain with ANITA WINTER
Dates: March 11 - 18, 2023
Medium: Watercolor Painting & Sketchbooking
Price: $ 3,590 after Early Bird discount

Come join Anita Winter on an unforgettable art workshop on the magical island of Mallorca in the western part of beautiful Mediterranean Sea.
Anita has been interested in art since childhood. She was the student who embellished every paper. Growing up in Michigan and Mexico City enabled her to experience diverse cultures and environments. Consequently, she enjoys painting both landscapes and cityscapes. She is a long time resident of Colorado and avid hiker and backpacker.
Anita paints almost everyday, both outside on location and in the studio. She paints in watercolor and also in oils, continually seeking to grow. She has studied with many talented artists such as Alvaro Castagnet, Kevin Weckback and Marc Hanson. She has also learned immeasurably from her local community of artists. She paints to celebrate, explore and give thanks. Her goal is to capture a moment in time and hopes you enjoy sharing her vision.
ABOUT THE SKETCHBOOK PAINTING TRIP:
Come with us as we journey to Spain and experience the splendor of Mallorca for a week of art! Using your sketchbook, you will draw and paint from observation daily as we visit hill towns or coastal villages, markets, cafés and gardens. Mallorca will provide a colorful palette, inspiring you to sketch that “moment in time”, creating your own visual memories in your sketchbook.
You will be met at Palma Airport, and we will travel to our hotel in Valldemossa. The first evening we will have a get-together where we go through the program of the week and you get a chance to meet our instructor, fellow artists, trip leader and staff.
During the week we will explore the island, its many scenic areas - from the gorgeous views over the Mediterranean Sea to the small quaint villages in the Tramuntana mountain range.
Some of the places we will visit are:
Fornalutx, one of the prettiest villages of Spain, with its cobbled streets and terracotta roofs, surrounded by well tended orange and lemon groves. The artist town of Deia, home to celebrities such as Michael Douglas, perched in a ravine at the foot of the Teix mountain, with views out to the Mediterranean below and with an interesting museum dedicated to the writer Robert Graves. Valldemossa, once a home for Frederic Chopin and George Sands, with art galleries, a 400 year old olive estate, outdoor cafes and restaurants. Soller, a charming town with an impressive cathedral, dating from the 1200s and a botanical garden with many endangered local plant species. Puerto de Soller, a fishing village that can be reached via a vintage train that travels on a wooden narrow-gauge electric railway, which crosses the Sierra de Alfàbia mountain range with a series of tunnels, bridges, viaducts and bends. Palma, once a laid-back capital, now a cosmopolitan city, with a bustling city center and a preserved old town.
Anita will demonstrate daily and share drawing & watercolor techniques, use of color, perspective drawing, and many sketching and painting ideas for you to try.
Join Miro, Chopin and all the other artists that have been lured to the beauty of Mallorca for a week you will never forget, keeping the color fresh and our brushes wet!

Early Bird Discount $200 when booking by 11/30/2022.

The island offers everything from large city living in the capital Palma to quaint village life in small towns like Deia, Fornalutx and Valldemossa.
Our base will be in Valldemossa, one of the small, picturesque towns in the Tramuntana mountain range on the west coast of the island, in the middle of orange groves, olive trees, and open terraces.

Lodging: Hotel Es Petit
Es Petit Hotel is a small hotel with a perfect location in the center of Valldemossa. Coffee shops, restaurants, boutiques, and art galleries are located right outside the hotel.
The building has been totally renovated and has modern facilities and amenities.
The deck with magnificent views overlooking the valley will be our gathering point in the afternoons as we return from our daily painting excursions.
Rooms: All rooms have private bathrooms and air conditioning.
