Our lodging: A private villa

We will stay in a stunning villa situated in the heart of the town of Ortelle. Originally a 19th century farmhouse, it has been lovingly restored in recent years, blending traditional charm with modern luxury to create the perfect oasis for painting and relaxation. The garden is adorned with Mediterranean plants and flowers, and offers a peaceful retreat.

About the area

Tuscany is indeed an artist's dream destination. During our week we will visit several of the nearby towns, such as the walled town of Volterra, the village of Peccioli built around the ruins of an ancient medieval castle and Lucca with its historic old town. You will also get the opportunity to paint the typical Tuscan countryside with its green hills, vineyards and olive groves.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP AND THE AREA:

Puglia (also called Apulia) forms the sunny "heel" of Italy's boot. Famed for its 800 kilometers of coastline, ancient olive groves, and unique conical stone houses called trulli, it is a major producer of olive oil and wine, blending rich southern traditions with clear turquoise sea.

Our home for the week will be the charming town of Ortelle. The town is known for its rich history and scenic beauty. It boasts of ancient buildings, beautiful landscapes, and a peaceful atmosphere.

During the week we will visit and paint in other villages in the area, including Lecce. Known as the "Florence of the South", Lecce amazes, fascinates and conquers with the archaeological remains of Roman rule and the exuberance of 17th-century baroque, known here as "Lecce Baroque", a unique expression of a popular language with Mediterranean roots.

Another excursion will be by boat, where we can take in. the unique view of Puglia from the water!

The cuisine in Puglia is a delight, with fresh ingredients and traditional recipes. At the villa we will have our own private chef!
