Postcards from Provence
A Beginner's Watercolor Travel Journaling Workshop with Lo Peyron Mathews
This Travel Journaling workshop in beautiful Provence has been designed with the Absolute Beginner in mind. Creating a watercolor journal when you are traveling is the complete opposite of how many of us travel these days: taking photos after photos with our phones. Watercolor Travel Journaling gives us a chance to slow down, to sketch scenes around us, to bring out our paints and add some color to our travel journals.

Lo Peyron Mathews
Born and raised in Sweden, Lo Peyron Mathews has always been drawn to art. Growing up, she took every chance she had to create, and painted just about anything, anytime. Her art style is representational, and she paints uniquely in watercolor. The unforeseen and unplanned nature of this medium is challenging, and she believes that is a major part of its appeal.

Our lodging: Le Clos du Buis
The hotel has a perfect location in the center of Bonnieux. It is possible to walk to restaurants, shops and galleries. The hotel has a lovely garden, a small pool, plenty of space to paint indoors after our excursions! The breakfast is extraordinary and can be taken in the dining room that has a panoramic view over the beautiful valley below.

About the area
Known all over the world for its beauty, Provence is an artist's dream destination. During the days, we will explore Luberon, and its spectacular countryside of vineyards and orchards, fascinating "perched" hill-top villages, outstanding natural produce and the light of Van Gogh and Cezanne. You will soon see why artists of all calibers are drawn to this alluring area.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP AND THE AREA:
We will stay in the Medieval town of Bonnieux, located in the Luberon part of southern France. The town is situated on a steep cliff with many hilly streets and overlooks the valley below.
The architecture of Bonnieux, which was a papal town for about 500 years, testifies to the prestige of its inhabitants over the centuries: ecclesiastical dignitaries, counts, lords... up until the modern times of the 19th century. The village has kept all its authenticity, its fountains and wash-houses, its old church and a view that is worth it all.
Our excursions include visits to Roussillon with the world famous Ochre trail and mines, Lourmarin, with a market that has EVERYTHING(!), l'Isle sur la Sorgue, with its distinctive water wheels, and Gordes, known as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
