Painting Memories of Languedoc
An Immersive Painting Workshop with Diane Fechenbach
This workshop will include daily demos, one-on-one instruction, critiques, and tips on painting the colors, sights and memories of Languedoc. We will explore how to find the perfect scene and quickly compose it on paper or canvas to capture each amazing location. Whether painting in watercolor, oil or pastel, participants will discover the secrets of painting the essence of southwest France from its sunshine to its shadows and Mediterranean colors.
Diane Fechenbach
Capturing light and shadow is Diane Fechenbach's passion. She paints in watercolor, oil, and pastel and this workshop is open to all those medias. Diane welcomes students of all experience levels, but it helps if you have some basic painting background. You can choose to paint plein air or bring a sketchbook to capture images of Languedoc.
Our lodging: La Maison Quarante
We will be staying in an exclusive, historic manor house entirely our own. This private sanctuary features a sprawling garden, a refreshing swimming pool, and a classic boule court for relaxing evenings. We will have a private chef and will share our meals together inside a beautiful light-filled greenhouse.
About the area
We will stay in Quarante, a hidden gem nestled in the sun-drenched landscapes of southern France's Languedoc region. Steeped in history, dating back to Roman times, this charming village captures the peaceful essence of rural French life. Beyond the village borders, rolling vineyards dominate the countryside. This region is celebrated for producing some of the best wines in France.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP AND THE AREA:
This is a not-to-miss immersive workshop. Each day includes demos, one-on-one instruction, critiques, and tips on painting the colors, sights and memories of Languedoc.
Excursions to neighboring towns provide opportunities to find beautiful scenes for sketches that can become larger paintings. You will head for home with memories of your experiences during this wonderful week tucked in your suitcase.
Our excursions include visits to Capestang, the gateway to Canal du Midi, Beziers, a city steeped in history since 575 BC. Beyond these historic centers, our route will take us through renowned vineyards, majestic castles, and several other picturesque villages throughout the surrounding area.
