A Plein Air Painting Workshop with Carol Newsom
Come join Carol Newsom, a passionate painter and book illustrator, on a plein air painting adventure in Italy in 2027! This workshop will be held in the beautiful region of Tuscany which is quintessential Italy: unspoiled beauty and a rich cultural history; a landscape of rolling hills, vineyards, quaint villages, and medieval castles. An artist dream destination.
This workshop is a collaboration with Flavours Holidays, in Edinburgh.
Carol Newsom
Carol Newsom has taught watercolor workshops throughout Colorado, Mexico, and Utah, sharing her passion for painting and helping students develop their skills and confidence. She is thrilled to take her passion for watercolor to Tuscany, where she looks forward to painting, exploring, and creating alongside a group of fellow artists.

Our lodging: A private villa
We will stay in a beautiful villa nestled in the green Tuscan hills, among olives and cypress trees. The villa provides wonderful inspiration for artists. Not only are the views stunning, the grounds are the perfect place to relax when not working on your art.
Most meals will be at the villa, prepared by our own private chef.
About the area
Tuscany is an artist's dream destination. During our week we will visit several of the nearby towns, such as the walled town of Volterra, the village of Peccioli built around the ruins of a medieval castle and Lucca with its old town. You will also get the opportunity to paint the Tuscan countryside with its green hills, vineyards and olive groves.

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
Join Carol Newsom for a plein air watercolor workshop designed to help you paint with greater confidence while enjoying the inspiration of your surroundings.
Carol will focus on essential watercolor techniques and the foundations of a strong painting, including composition, drawing, values, color harmony, and edge control.
Through demonstrations, one-on-one instruction, and a daily critique, you’ll gain practical tools to create paintings with greater intention and confidence.
We will also explore the creative practices of sketching and journaling, giving you new ways to observe, capture, and connect with the places you visit.
